Instructions for opening a Captin Trading Account and help with the identity check.
Step 1. Activate your personal environment at Captin
We want to ensure that you securely access your personal environment at Captin. In this message, we explain how to gain access.
It is important to follow the correct steps.
1. You will receive an activation email from Captin, which will allow you to view your portfolio in your personal environment.
2. After confirming your email, you will receive an activation code and follow the instructions on the screen.
3. After entering the code, we will ask you to create a password.
4. After this, we will ask you to log in once.
5. After logging in, you will arrive at your personal home screen.
Step 2. Opening a Trading Account
To gain insight into your data and later buy or sell certificates through the Captin platform, we ask you to confirm your identity and fill in any missing information when completing the web form. Captin is legally required to record the data from your identity document (passport or ID card). We ask you to complete this form once.
Keep your identification document and smartphone ready, as you will need them.
-
- Captin recommends using a laptop or computer to log in and having your smartphone handy and ready to use.
- Captin advises against using a tablet. This may cause issues.
- There are several steps to follow.
- This takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
1. The "Open trading account" button is active. By pressing this button, you can start opening a Trading Account.
This button is used to start or complete the identification and verification process. You must complete the steps, including answering the tax questions and signing the agreement. These steps are also necessary to prepare your account for when trading in Triodos certificates resumes. If you see the status "Pending Captin review", you don't need to do anything.
If you have fully completed the process (perhaps at an earlier stage), you will see the message "Completed!" on your screen. No further action is required for this step.
Step 2.1. Filling out the web form to open a Trading Account.
1. Filling out the form to open a Captin Trading Account.
2. Filling out the form to open a Captin Trading Account.
Step 2.2. Confirm your identity
During the opening of your Trading Account, you will be asked to complete any missing information and identify yourself. From the government, under the Wwft Act (Law for the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing), we are required to conduct an identification investigation for each customer. We identify and verify our clients through a scan of your identity document¹.
¹As an identity document, we only accept a passport or an ID card.
While scanning the code, you will be asked to open a new page on your smartphone. Then, with your smartphone, take a photo of your passport or ID card without covering your BSN or photo. You cannot use a driver's license. If you do not have a European passport or ID card, we ask that you contact us for further instructions.
Step 2.3. Electronically sign the documents.
After completing the identity check, we will ask you a few tax-related questions:
You will also be asked to agree to:
- Captin Broker - Investment Agreement & Investment Terms,
- Power of Attorney for the Transfer of Certificates,
- Captin Multilateral Trading Facility Rulebook, and
- Captin Trading Regulations.
These are documents that Captin needs to prepare your Trading Account. After your agreement, we will assess whether your trading account can be used for buying and selling certificates.
After completing the form, you will see the following message on your screen.
Ultimately, you will receive the status "Pending Captin review" and you don't need to do anything for now. Captin will review your trading account, and if we need anything further, we will contact you. Once your onboarding is approved, the status will change to "Trading Account ready".
